40 Nuances is a work that focuses on the myriad shades one may observe under water. This phenomenon occurs at different depths, where the refraction and the absorption of the light changes the perceived temperature of colors. To capture this uncanny graduation, I took samples of water from 0m to 40m depth to get a wide range of color absorption. Every lake or sea has its special chromatic spectra, based on available sunlight, salinity, depth and sedimentary/chemical composition. For this installation, I chose to work with water from the Lake of Geneva ( lac Léman ), which offers a great variety of hues.
